The TE Connectivity 207467-1 is a hinged backshell from the AMPLIMITE series, designed to clamp over the back of a D-sub connector and terminate the cable jacket. It accepts round cable and gives you two cable exit options — 90° and 180° — so you can route the harness in the direction the enclosure demands without swapping to a different backshell part. The body is black thermoplastic, unshielded, and ships with the assembly hardware and strain relief included, meaning you don't need to order those pieces separately. This backshell fits standard 9-position D-sub connectors (shell size E) and is also compatible with high-density 15-position D-subs that share the same shell size. That cross-compatibility is useful if your BOM has both standard and HD connectors in the same shell envelope — one backshell covers both.
Unshielded Construction — When to Use It
The 207467-1 is unshielded, so it provides mechanical cable retention and strain relief but no EMI/RFI protection. Use it in applications where the cable assembly is inside a shielded enclosure or where the signal levels are high enough that external interference isn't a concern — think control cabinet wiring, internal equipment harnesses, or low-speed data lines. For environments with radiated noise, switch to a shielded AMPLIMITE backshell that bonds the cable braid to the connector shell.
Cable Exit and Assembly
The hinged design opens like a clamshell, so you can place the backshell over the cable and connector after termination. The two cable exit angles — 90° and 180° — are set by how you orient the cable before closing the shell. The strain relief clamps onto the round cable jacket, and the included hardware secures the backshell to the D-sub's threaded inserts. No special tools needed beyond a screwdriver.
