SMA End-Launch Jack for 50-Ohm Systems to 27 GHz
The 2081880-1: It carries a threaded coupling nut for secure mated retention and uses a gold-plated brass body with a PTFE dielectric. Rated to 27 GHz, this connector covers the full 26 GHz Ku-band and reaches into K-band — suitable for microwave test, telecom backhaul, and instrumentation where the signal path needs a clean launch from the PCB edge without a right-angle bend.
Board Edge End Launch — Footprint and Routing
The end-launch mounting style places the connector body flush with the PCB edge. The centre pin and ground legs solder directly to the board, letting a microstrip or coplanar waveguide trace run straight to the launch without a right-angle transition. This keeps the impedance discontinuity small and the return loss low up to 27 GHz. The shield termination is solder — no press-fit or clamp — so the ground connection depends on a solid solder fillet to the board's ground plane.
Mates with any standard SMA plug (male pin) having a 1/4-36 threaded coupling nut. The female socket accepts a 0.010-inch to 0.020-inch centre pin. The package is a tray, typical for hand-assembly or low- to medium-volume production.
