Wiring a 10 AWG Power Line into the Metrimate System
The TE Connectivity 213737-1 is a crimp socket from the Metrimate series, built to terminate 10 AWG wire into a power interconnect system. This socket mates with the matching Metrimate pin contact inside a plug or receptacle housing; the crimp barrel accepts the full 10 AWG strand count, so the connection carries the rated current without necking the conductor down at the termination point.
Crimp Tooling and Termination Fit
10 AWG is a heavy-gauge wire — the 213737-1 requires a crimp tool with the correct die set for the Metrimate contact barrel. The terminal is designed for a four-indent or full-cycle crimp that compresses the barrel evenly around the conductor and insulation. Using the wrong tool or a loose crimp leaves the wire able to pull out of the barrel under tension; the gold plating won't save a mechanically poor termination.
