SFP+ Cage with Press-Fit and EMI Shielding
The TE Connectivity 2170680-2 is an SFP+ cage connector designed for high-speed differential signal interfaces up to 10 Gbps per lane. It provides the mechanical enclosure and EMI containment for a pluggable SFP+ transceiver module, with a press-fit termination that eliminates the need for a soldering step on the backplane or motherboard.
Press-Fit Termination — No Solder Required
This reduces assembly thermal stress and allows rework if the cage needs replacement in the field. Because there is no solder joint, the board-side footprint must match the pin diameter and hole size specified in the TE product drawing — verify the PCB drill chart against the press-fit zone before layout sign-off.
EMI Shielded for Signal Integrity
The EMI Shielded feature on this cage means the metal housing is designed to contain radiated emissions from the high-speed transceiver and prevent external interference from coupling into the differential pair. This is a requirement for passing FCC Class A / Class B radiated emissions testing in telecom and datacom equipment.
