zSFP+ Cage, 1x4 Ganged — Press-Fit to the Backplane
The TE Connectivity 2227730-1 is a zSFP+ cage in a ganged 1x4 configuration — four SFP+ module ports in a single shielded shell. It terminates to the PCB with press-fit pins, which means no solder wave or reflow on the cage footprint. The EMI shielding integrated into the cage is the feature that makes this part a zSFP+ component rather than a plain mechanical holder. It contains the module's radiated emissions at the port and keeps external noise off the differential pairs. For a 1x4 ganged cage, the shielding also isolates adjacent ports from crosstalk through the shell.
The through-hole, right-angle mounting requires a stencil-less insertion step in the assembly line, typically with a pneumatic or hydraulic press. The press-fit force specification for this cage family is documented in the TE application tooling drawing; the board hole size and plating thickness must match the pin geometry to avoid barrel damage.
No official replacement or cross-reference part has been published by TE.
