Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 Jack with EMI Shielding
The 2301994-5: The connector is shielded with an EMI finger and uses a brass shield material to keep radiated emissions within compliance limits — a typical requirement for industrial Ethernet and data-comm equipment housed inside a metal enclosure. This is a 90° right-angle through-hole mount part with a height above board of 0.543" (13.80 mm), so it stands off the PCB enough to clear the panel cutout but still fits a 1U rack-mount faceplate. The single-row, 8-core configuration matches the standard wiring scheme used in structured cabling.
Board Layout and Keep-Out
The board lock requires a plated through-hole in the PCB footprint; the datasheet drawing shows the exact hole pattern. The tab direction is up, meaning the latch on the mating RJ45 plug engages on the top side of the jack. This is the most common orientation for horizontal PCB mounting — the plug cable exits downward, keeping the cable run low-profile against the panel.
