IDC termination is a one-step mass-termination process: the cable is laid across the contacts and the cover is pressed down, forcing each conductor into a bifurcated beam that pierces the insulation. No wire prep beyond cutting to length. The trade-off is that the connection is permanent — there is no secondary retention or rework path if a wire is mis-routed. The 26-30 AWG range is narrow; the wire's insulation OD must be within the slot geometry for the IDC beams to cut cleanly without damaging the conductor. For ribbon cable, the 2.00 mm pitch aligns with standard rainbow ribbon, making this a drop-in choice for jumpered signal runs between boards.

This receptacle mates with the AMPMODU 2mm header series — a 0.079" (2.00 mm) pitch, single-row, through-hole or SMT pin header. The 3-position header (TE base number 2317206, with a suffix indicating the header variant) completes the wire-to-board interconnect. The closed-end feature on the receptacle means the header must have a corresponding polarization feature or the mating face must be fully populated; a 4-position header would not seat fully.
