Right-angle footprint and board fit
The right-angle solder tails drop 0.075" (1.90mm) into the board, keeping the header body parallel to the PCB surface. That matters when you have a tight z-height budget — the mated receptacle sits flush with the header, not standing upright. Contact tail length of 0.075" (1.90mm) is short enough that the solder joint doesn't protrude far below the board, but long enough to get a reliable through-hole fillet on a standard 1.6mm PCB. Insulation height of 0.285" (7.25mm) gives the shroud enough depth to fully enclose the pins and still leave room for the receptacle latch to click in.
