5.00 mm Pitch SMT Terminal Block, 6 Positions, 13.5 A — the Rising Cage Clamp Fit
The TE Connectivity 2383938-6 is a 6-position, single-level Termi-Blok terminal block on a 0.197" (5.00 mm) pitch, designed for surface-mount assembly. It terminates wires from 16 AWG down to 30 AWG using a screw-driven rising cage clamp — the clamp lifts to capture the conductor, then tightens against the cage wall, not the screw tip, so stranded wire isn't damaged under torque. The M3 screw with a specified torque range of 0.5-0.6 Nm (4.4-5.3 Lb-In) gives a repeatable termination for production or field wiring. This is the SMT variant of the Termi-Blok series — most 5.00 mm pitch terminal blocks are through-hole, so this surface-mount version suits automated pick-and-place lines and double-sided boards where a through-hole part would block routing.
Termination and Wire Range — 16-30 AWG with a Rising Cage Clamp
The screw-rising cage clamp accepts solid, stranded, and ferruled wire from 16 AWG to 30 AWG. The clamp material is copper alloy with nickel plating; the screw is the same copper alloy-nickel construction, so galvanic corrosion between the screw and the clamp is minimised in humid environments. The specified torque range of 0.5-0.6 Nm (4.4-5.3 Lb-In) is tighter than many general-purpose terminal blocks — a torque screwdriver is recommended for production. Under-torquing leaves the conductor loose in the cage; over-torquing can strip the M3 thread in the polyamide housing.
Mating Orientation and Board Layout
The mating orientation is horizontal with the board — the wire entry is parallel to the PCB surface, not vertical. This matters for enclosure clearance: the terminated wires run along the board, not away from it, so the connector suits shallow enclosures or board-edge terminations where vertical wire exit would hit the lid.
