4-Position IDC Plug for Discrete Wire Harnesses
The plug is free-hanging with a right-angle cable exit, which keeps the wire bundle parallel to the board edge in tight enclosures.
IDC Termination and Wire Gauge
The 281708-4 terminates 24 AWG discrete wire via IDC — the contacts pierce the insulation and make connection in one press operation. This is faster than crimping each terminal individually, but the tooling must match the wire gauge exactly. The tin-plated female sockets are rated for the current capacity of 24 AWG wire, typically around 2 A per circuit depending on temperature rise and bundle size.
The black housing is a single-row 4-position plug, packed in a box for manual or semi-automated assembly.
