IDC Plug for 10-Position Ribbon-Style Harnesses
It terminates 26-28 AWG discrete wire without stripping or crimping — the insulation displacement contacts pierce the wire jacket in a single press operation. The blue housing and detent lock provide visual and mechanical retention in low-vibration, indoor equipment environments.
This plug uses IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection) termination, which means the wire is pressed into a slotted contact that cuts through the insulation and grips the conductor. The wire gauge range is 26-28 AWG — the slot geometry is specific to these gauges, and using a wire outside this range will not produce a reliable connection. The termination requires a manual or pneumatic IDC press; it is not a crimp-and-insert process. The cable termination type is Discrete, not ribbon cable, so individual wires are loaded into each position.
Mating and Locking
The plug mates with a 10-position, dual-row, 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch header — typically a BergStik or equivalent square-pin header. The detent lock on the plug body engages a corresponding ramp on the header, providing a positive but non-latching retention. The plug is free-hanging (in-line) and has no mounting ears or panel-mount features.
