Terminal block for a 2-position power tap
The 282836-2 is a 2-position, single-level terminal block from the TE Buchanan series, designed for wire-to-board termination at 5.00 mm pitch. It carries a 13.5 A current rating at 300 V, which is the practical limit for a 16-30 AWG wire terminated under a rising cage clamp. The housing is green polyamide 6/6, and the contacts are brass with tin plating — adequate for moderate environments where repeated mating cycles are not the primary wear mode.
M3 screw torque and wire clamping
The screw-rising cage clamp uses an M3 screw torqued to 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In) — that torque spec is the single most important number on the harness bench. Over-torque strips the brass screw; under-torque leaves the wire loose under vibration. The clamp and screw are both brass with nickel plating, which resists corrosion in industrial cabinet environments but does not match the cycle life of stainless hardware.
Side entry orientation and interlocking feature
The interlocking (side) feature allows multiple 2-position blocks to be ganged side-by-side without gaps, forming a continuous terminal strip of any length.
ROHS3 compliant — no RoHS exemption issues for EU or California market shipments.
