The 282838-5: It accepts 16-30 AWG wire terminated via a rising cage clamp — the screw tightens a brass cage that pulls the wire against the current bar, giving a gas-tight connection without damaging the conductor. The side-entry orientation (horizontal with board) keeps the wire path parallel to the PCB, which matters when the enclosure height is tight. Green housing, polyamide 6/6, rated 13.5 A at 600 V.
At 600 V, this block suits panel-level distribution and motor control circuits inside an enclosure. The 10.00 mm pitch gives generous creepage between adjacent circuits, so you can route traces between the pins on the PCB without tight spacing rules. The M3 screw torque spec of 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In) is the upper limit — overtightening can strip the brass threads.
Side Interlocking and Ganging
The interlocking (side) feature lets you snap multiple 282838-5 blocks together side-by-side to build a multi-pole assembly without a separate jumper bar. The interlock is mechanical — it aligns the housings and prevents them from separating under vibration. For a 10-position assembly, you'd use two 5-position blocks interlocked; there's no need to stock a separate 10-position variant.
