The 0.400" (10.16 mm) pitch is the first thing a board layout engineer notices — it is wide enough to route a 12 AWG wire and maintain the 600 V creepage distance without needing a recessed barrier between positions. This is a power distribution block, not a signal interconnect; the pitch and the 17.5 A per-position rating together tell you the board trace feeding each position should be sized for that current, not for signal-level routing. Termination is a screw-actuated rising cage clamp. The M3 screw torques to 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) and pulls the wire into the brass, nickel-plated clamp body — the connection is gas-tight on solid or stranded wire from 12 to 30 AWG. The clamp and screw are both brass with nickel plating; the contact area on the wire is tin-plated brass, which mates well with tinned copper conductors without galvanic concern. The green PA66 housing is standard for this class of European-style terminal block. The interlocking side feature lets you snap multiple blocks together side-by-side.
17.5 A at 600 V — what the ratings actually mean for the install
17.5 A per position is the headline current. The 600 V rating is straightforward at this pitch. The through-hole mounting gives a stronger mechanical anchor than a surface-mount block would, important when the 12 AWG wire is torqued into the clamp.
