8-position, 10 mm pitch side-entry block
The 282858-8 is an 8-position, single-level terminal block from TE's Buchanan series, on a 0.394" (10.00mm) pitch — the wide pitch keeps routing clear for higher-voltage or higher-current runs on the board. Rated 24 A at 600 V, it handles motor control, power supply, and industrial I/O wiring where a compact multi-pole block is needed but the load still demands a 10 mm spacing between terminals.
Screw rising cage clamp termination
Wire termination is via a screw-driven rising cage clamp: turning the M3 screw to 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) lifts the clamp plate, trapping the conductor against the bus bar — no wire ferrule required for stranded wire, though 12-30 AWG is accepted. The clamp and screw are brass with nickel plating; the contact surface is brass with tin plating — a combination that resists corrosion in factory-floor atmospheres without the cost of full gold. Side interlocking lets you snap multiple 282858-8 blocks together into a multi-position assembly — useful when a design needs 16 or 24 positions but the PCB layout benefits from individual blocks ganged on the rail.
