2-Position Side-Entry Terminal Block at 5 mm Pitch
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 282884-2 is a 2-position PCB-mount terminal block on a 0.197" (5.00mm) pitch. It uses a screw-rising cage clamp termination — the M3 screw drives a clamp that pulls the wire against the current bar, giving a gas-tight connection on solid or stranded wire from 16 to 30 AWG. Rated 13.5 A at 300 V, the block suits control wiring, power distribution, and sensor I/O in industrial panels, HVAC controllers, and lighting ballasts.
Side Interlocking for Multi-Position Ganging
The interlocking (side) feature lets you snap multiple 282884-2 blocks together side-by-side to build a wider terminal strip without extra brackets or end covers. Each block stays independently removable for replacement, and the interlock keeps the pitch consistent across the assembly. For a 4-position run, two of these 2-position blocks interlock cleanly — no need for a dedicated 4-position variant.
Termination and Torque Specs
The rising cage clamp accepts solid or ferruled stranded wire. The M3 screw takes a recommended torque of 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In) — enough to deform the conductor slightly for a stable connection without stripping the brass-nickel screw. The clamp material is brass with nickel plating; the contact surface is brass with tin plating, matching the PCB trace metallurgy for low galvanic potential.
