Two Circuits, One Screw Row — the 5 mm Power Block
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 282888-2 is a 2-position PCB terminal block from the Buchanan series, built for fixed-installation power distribution on a board. The rising cage clamp termination accepts 12-30 AWG wire — from a 4 mm² power feed down to a control signal — and the M3 screw is torqued to 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) for a gas-tight connection that doesn't cold-flow the conductor.
Rising Cage Clamp and Side Interlock
The wire termination is a screw-actuated rising cage clamp — the clamp plate lifts as the screw tightens, pressing the wire against the current bar. This gives a vibration-resistant connection without crimping or ferrule tooling, and the brass-nickel-plated clamp and screw resist corrosion in industrial cabinet atmospheres. The interlocking side feature lets you snap multiple 282888-2 blocks together side-by-side to build a multi-position strip on the same PCB without a separate jumper bar — the interlock keys align the blocks and the screw terminals stay independent per position.
Board Layout and Environment
The through-hole mounting and horizontal wire entry (side-entry, parallel to the board) keep the wiring low-profile above the PCB — useful for enclosures with tight z-height clearance. The green colour is standard for ground/earth identification in European-style terminal blocks, though this is a general-purpose power/signal block, not a dedicated ground terminal.
