LIGHT-N-LOK 2-Position Poke-In Receptacle
The orange thermoplastic housing carries tin-plated copper alloy contacts and uses a poke-in termination — stripped solid or stranded wire inserts directly into the contact barrel without a crimp tool, secured by an internal spring clamp.
Wire Range and Termination
The poke-in termination accepts 16-22 AWG wire — solid or stranded — and the internal spring clamp holds the conductor without a separate crimp terminal. This makes the 2834049-3 a direct-wire receptacle: strip the wire to the correct length, push it into the contact cavity until the spring seats, and the connection is made. No crimp tool, no loose terminals to inventory. The trade-off is a low mating cycle count of 10 — the contact spring is designed for semi-permanent installation, not repeated disconnect-reconnect cycles. For a harness that mates once during assembly and only opens for service, this is well within the duty.
The latch holder on the receptacle engages the mating plug's locking ramp for vibration-resistant retention. The 2-position count matches a two-wire circuit — power-in/return or a single switched line plus neutral. The 600V rating gives ample headroom for mains-voltage lighting circuits (120V, 230V, 277V) and industrial control voltages up to 480VAC line-to-line.
