Wiring and Termination — Poke-In, No Crimp
This plug accepts 16-22 AWG wire. The poke-in termination means you strip the insulation to the right length, push the conductor into the contact cavity, and the internal spring grabs it. No crimp die, no cycle time on a press. The trade-off is that the connection is permanent — you don't pull the wire back out without cutting it. For field service, that's fine if you're replacing a damaged section; for a harness that needs rework, it's a one-shot deal. Mating cycles are rated at 10, which is low compared to a crimp-and-latch connector. That means this plug is intended for install-and-forget applications — not a frequent disconnect point. If your design cycles the connector more than a handful of times, look at a different termination style.
Current Rating — What 3A / 8A Actually Means
The dual current rating of 3A and 8A per contact reflects the wire gauge dependency. At 22 AWG, the smaller wire limits the current to 3A; step up to 16 AWG and the contact can carry 8A. The voltage rating of 600V gives plenty of headroom for low-voltage signal or power circuits — the creepage distance on the housing supports it.
