5.08 mm Pitch, 15 A — What This Plug Does in the Panel
The 284041-3: The 5.08 mm pitch gives the mating header a clear 0.200" centreline, which is wide enough to route 12 AWG wire without crowding adjacent terminals. It uses a screw-driven rising cage clamp: the screw (M3, torqued to 0.79 Nm) pushes a clamp plate against the conductor. The strip length is 6-7.5 mm, and the clamp accepts solid or stranded wire from 12 AWG down to 30 AWG (0.05-3 mm²).
Termination Checklist — Wire Prep and Screw Torque
The plug mates with the corresponding Buchanan header (same series, 5.08 mm pitch). Retention latches on the non-wire side hold the plug in the header — they engage audibly and prevent back-out under vibration.
