2-Position 7.62 mm Pitch Terminal Block Plug for 15 A / 300 V Circuits
The 284049-2 is a 2-position plug from TE's Buchanan series, designed for free-hanging (in-line) termination with a 0.300" (7.62 mm) pitch. It accepts 12-30 AWG wire via a screw-driven rising cage clamp and is rated for 15 A at 300 V. The 90° wire entry makes this plug a space-saver in shallow enclosures — the wire exits parallel to the mating header, not straight out the back.
Rising Cage Clamp Termination with Specified Torque
Termination uses a rising cage clamp — tightening the M3 screw to 0.79 Nm (7.0 Lb-In) lifts the clamp plate against the conductor, securing solid or stranded wire without damaging strands. The recommended wire strip length is 6-7.5 mm, and the clamp accepts conductors from 12 AWG down to 30 AWG (0.05-3 mm²).
