The TE Connectivity 284094-3 is a 3-position PCB terminal block from the Buchanan series, designed for top-entry wire termination at a 0.200" (5.08mm) pitch. This is the standard spacing for moderate-power terminal blocks — wide enough to route 16 AWG wire without crowding adjacent circuits, and the pitch matches the board footprint to a 0.200" grid. The green polyamide (PA66) housing carries a single level of terminals, each rated 13.5 A at 300 V, making it suitable for power distribution, lighting ballasts, and industrial control boards where you need a serviceable screw-clamp connection rather than a crimped header. The rising cage clamp termination accepts 16-30 AWG solid or stranded wire — the screw pushes a nickel-plated brass clamp up against the wire, gripping the full conductor cross-section without cold flow. The M3 screw has a specified torque of 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In); hitting that torque seats the clamp without stripping the brass threads. The contact material is brass with tin plating, which is standard for terminal block duty where the connection is made once and left undisturbed.
Side Interlocking and Ganging
This block includes an interlocking (side) feature, meaning multiple 284094-3 units can be snapped together side-by-side on the PCB to build a multi-position assembly at the same 0.200" pitch.
