4-Position PCB Terminal Block, 5.08 mm Pitch
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 284094-4 is a 4-position, single-level PCB terminal block with a 5.08 mm pitch. It uses a screw-actuated rising cage clamp to terminate solid or stranded wire from 16 to 30 AWG. The green polyamide (PA66) housing is rated for 300 V and 13.5 A per position, making it a standard choice for power distribution and control wiring on a PCB. The M3 screw requires 0.68 Nm (6 Lb-In) of torque for a reliable gas-tight connection.
Termination and Wire Preparation
The rising cage clamp pulls the wire up against a brass, nickel-plated clamp plate as the M3 screw is tightened. This termination style works with both solid and stranded wire. The 0.68 Nm torque spec is typical for a 5.08 mm pitch block. The nickel-plated brass screw and clamp resist corrosion in industrial cabinet environments.
The block mounts through-hole to the PCB with the wire entry on top, perpendicular to the board surface. The 5.08 mm pitch leaves enough room for routing a 300 V trace between adjacent positions without excessive creepage concerns. The interlocking side feature allows multiple blocks to be ganged together side-by-side to form a larger terminal strip on the same PCB — the dovetail keys align the housings and prevent separation during screw driving. The block is supplied in bulk, so plan for tube or tray handling on the assembly line.
