Panel Wiring: 4-Position Screw-Clamp Block for PCB Mount
The TE Connectivity Buchanan 284391-4 is a 4-position PCB terminal block with a 3.50 mm pitch, designed for side-entry wire termination using a rising cage clamp. The green polyamide (PA66) housing carries a single level of positions rated for 12 A at 300 V. Wire range accepts 14-30 AWG, and the M3 screw has a specified torque of 0.25 Nm (2.2 Lb-In) — torque it, then scan it, because a loose joint in a screw-clamp block runs hot under load. The side interlocking feature lets multiple blocks key together without extra hardware, useful for building multi-pole terminal strips on a PCB.
Wire termination uses a rising cage clamp: strip the wire, insert into the clamp opening, and tighten the M3 screw to 0.25 Nm. The clamp and screw are brass with nickel plating; the contact surface is brass with tin plating. Mating orientation is horizontal with the board — wires enter from the side, parallel to the PCB. The through-hole mounting pins solder into the board; the 3.50 mm pitch matches standard terminal block footprints.
