4-position 3.50 mm plug for panel wiring
The 284510-4 is a 4-position, single-level plug from TE's Buchanan series, pitched at 0.138" (3.50 mm). It terminates stranded or solid wire from 14 AWG down to 30 AWG (0.05-2 mm²) using a screw-driven rising cage clamp — the clamp lifts against the conductor, not the screw point, so the wire stays under even pressure without strand damage. Rated 11 A at 300 V (UL) with a polyamide (PA66) housing rated UL94 V-0, the block suits control cabinets, junction boxes, and industrial panel wiring where a free-hanging plug needs to mate with a fixed header.
Termination and wire preparation
The rising cage clamp accepts a wire strip length of 5-6 mm. The screw torque spec is 0.31 Nm (2.7 Lb-In) — over-torquing can strip the M2 screw or crack the housing; under-torquing leaves the wire loose in the cage. A small flat-blade screwdriver (typically 3.5 mm blade) seats the wire and tightens the clamp in one step.
