The 284510-7 is a 7-position plug with female sockets from the TE Buchanan series, designed as the field-wireable mating half for a fixed header. It terminates solid or stranded wire from 14 AWG down to 30 AWG using a screw-driven rising cage clamp — the clamp lifts to trap the conductor, then tightens against the cage floor. Rated 11 A per position at 300 V, it handles control power and sensor loops inside an industrial cabinet.
Termination and wire handling
The screw rising cage clamp accepts a stripped length of 5-6 mm and is torqued to 0.31 Nm (2.7 Lb-In). Wire entry is straight through the plug face (180°), which keeps the cable bundle aligned with the plug axis in a panel or rail-mount layout.
This plug is free-hanging (in-line) and mates with a fixed header on the PCB. The mating flange on the plug body provides a positive lock against the header — no secondary latch or screw flange needed for basic retention.
