The 284510-8 is an 8-position plug from the Buchanan series, terminated by a rising cage clamp — a screw-driven clamp that pulls the wire against a current bar. It's rated 11 A at 300 V (UL) and accepts 14-30 AWG wire (0.05-2 mm²). The free-hanging (in-line) housing lets you plug directly into a fixed header without panel mounting. The mating flange provides a screw-down lock to the header, which keeps the pair together under vibration.
Termination and field service
Termination is screw-clamp — strip the wire 5-6 mm, insert into the cage, and tighten the M2 screw to 0.31 Nm (2.7 lb-in). No crimp tool needed; a standard #1 Phillips or slot screwdriver is all you need on site. The rising cage clamp lifts as the screw tightens, pinching the wire against the current bar — it's forgiving of solid and stranded wire alike. The plug wire entry is 180° (straight), so the cable exits directly opposite the mating face.
