DuoPlug 284865-9: 9-Position IDC Receptacle at 2.50mm Pitch
The TE Connectivity DuoPlug 284865-9 is a 9-position receptacle designed for discrete wire-to-board connections. Its 0.098" (2.50mm) pitch is the dimension you'll need to match against the mating header's pin field — a half-millimeter off and the board footprint won't align.
The contact finish here is tin, not gold. Tin is perfectly fine for a connector that gets mated a handful of times over its life — think a PSU harness inside an enclosure that stays put. If you're building something that gets cycled daily or lives in a corrosive environment, you'd want gold plating, but that's not this part. The IDC termination is a production-speed win: strip the wire, push it in, done. No crimp die, no pull-test on a terminal. The trade-off is that IDC is less forgiving on wire gauge — stick to the 22-24 AWG range and you're set. The receptacle itself mates to a PCB header (same DuoPlug series, same pitch), so the board holds the male pins and this part brings the wire.
