DuoPlug IDC Receptacle for Discrete Wire Harnesses
It uses an insulation displacement contact (IDC) termination — the wire is pressed into a slot that pierces the insulation, making electrical contact without stripping or crimping a separate terminal. The 0.098" (2.50mm) pitch matches a standard 2.50mm header footprint, and the free-hanging (in-line) housing mounts directly in the wire run, not on a PCB. Tin-plated female blade sockets accept 22-24 AWG discrete wire, making this a straightforward choice for low-cost, moderate-duty wire-to-board connections in appliances, control panels, and general-purpose equipment.
The IDC termination style means the wire is forced into a slot in the contact that cuts through the insulation and grips the conductor. This eliminates the need for a separate crimp terminal and the associated crimp tooling — the wire is simply pressed into place with a simple hand tool or press. The 22-24 AWG range covers common signal and low-power wiring in control and appliance harnesses.
Mating and Board Fit
This receptacle mates with a standard 0.098" (2.50mm) pitch header — the matching male pin header from the DuoPlug series or any 2.50mm pitch header with compatible pin dimensions. The free-hanging housing does not require a board lock or mounting ears — it sits in the wire harness and mates to the header on the PCB.
