The 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch gives more room between conductors than the finer 0.100" IDC connectors, which simplifies hand-wiring and provides better voltage standoff for low-power signal and control harnesses.
No crimp tool or solder is needed — just a simple hand press or an arbor press with the correct MTA-156 insertion tool. The closed-end feature means the back of the housing is solid, so wires cannot push through the rear; the termination is self-aligning for the wire slot. For field repair, the entire receptacle is replaced rather than re-terminating individual contacts.
It is RoHS3 compliant.
