The 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch matches the standard MTA-100 header footprint, and the locking ramp holds the pair together under vibration — no secondary latch needed.
The IDC termination punches through 24 AWG wire insulation in one operation — no separate crimp terminal or tooling beyond the IDC press. The closed-end feature means the cable stops at the back of the housing, so the wire strip length is self-limiting. For harness builders running discrete or ribbon cable, this saves a station on the line compared to crimp-and-insert connectors.
