What This MTA-156 IDC Receptacle Does
IDC termination means the 18 AWG wire is pressed into the insulation-displacement slots in one operation — no individual terminal handling, no crimp tool setup.
Termination and Wire Match
This is an IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) receptacle — the 18 AWG wire is forced into the contact slots, displacing the insulation to make the electrical connection. The wire gauge is fixed at 18 AWG; the slot geometry won't reliably terminate thinner or thicker wire. The feed-through feature allows daisy-chaining multiple receptacles on the same wire run — the IDC contacts pass the signal through, so you can tap off at multiple points without cutting the cable.
