8-Position IDC Receptacle for 28 AWG Cable
It terminates 28 AWG discrete or ribbon cable without stripping or crimping — the insulation-displacement contacts pierce the wire jacket in one press operation. The 0.100" (2.54 mm) pitch matches standard 0.100" header rows, and the tin-plated contacts (80.0 µin / 2.03 µm) provide reliable connections for moderate-cycle applications.
Using a different wire size risks poor insulation displacement or intermittent contact. The feed-through feature allows daisy-chaining multiple receptacles on the same cable run, common in ribbon-cable harnesses for internal signal distribution.
Locking Ramp and Mounting
This retention is useful in free-hanging cable assemblies where strain on the wire bundle could otherwise unseat the connector.
