The 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch matches the MTA-156 header footprint, and the free-hanging (in-line) mount means it lives on the cable end, not soldered to a board. The red housing and closed-end design give a positive wire stop during termination.
This receptacle mates with the MTA-156 series pin headers — the 0.156" pitch and single-row layout are the compatibility constants. The IDC termination accepts 22 AWG wire only; the closed-end feature stops the wire at the correct depth inside the contact slot. No crimp tooling is needed — a simple press or hand-held IDC tool mass-terminates all five positions in one stroke.
