The 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch matches the standard MTA-156 header footprint — this is the female half that mass-terminates to the wire, then locks onto the header pins with the integral locking ramp. The red housing is a closed-end design, meaning the wire stops at the back wall of the cavity, giving a consistent insertion depth across all six positions.
IDC Termination and Wire Prep
This IDC connector terminates 22 AWG wire by pressing it into insulation-displacement slots. It accepts discrete wires or ribbon cable.
Contact Plating and Mating Duty
The female socket contacts carry 3.00µin (0.076µm) gold plating over the base metal. That's a light flash — enough for corrosion resistance in indoor environments and a few dozen mating cycles, but not rated for repeated disconnect/reconnect in a field-service harness. For a one-time mate in a production assembly, the gold prevents fretting corrosion at the contact interface better than tin would.
Free-hanging (in-line) mounting — this receptacle is not board-locked or panel-mounted. It mates with any standard MTA-156 header (straight or right-angle, through-hole or SMT) at the same 0.156" pitch. The single-row, 6-position layout is keyed by the housing geometry — a 6-position header won't accept a 4- or 8-position receptacle, so the circuit count is self-aligning.
