MTA-156 IDC Plug, 4 Circuits, 20 AWG
It mates with the matching MTA-156 header family, providing a reliable wire-to-board interconnect at the standard 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch. The connector is configured as a free-hanging, right-angle plug with male pins and a closed end, finished in yellow.
IDC Termination and Wire Selection
The 3-641436-4 terminates 20 AWG wire only — the IDC slot is gated for that single gauge, so don't substitute 18 or 22 AWG. The closed-end design prevents wire over-insertion and shields the termination point.
The 80.0µin tin contact finish is notably thick for an IDC product — standard tin flash is often 40–50 µ". The heavier plating provides better corrosion resistance in non-sealed environments and supports a reasonable number of mating cycles, though tin contacts still gall under repeated disconnect/reconnect in the field. This plug is best specified for one-time or occasional mating, not daily service.
This plug mates with any TE MTA-156 header of the same 4-circuit count and 0.156" pitch. The right-angle orientation of the plug means the mated pair will have the cable exiting at 90° to the header's mounting plane — check your mechanical clearance if the header is board-mounted. The single-row layout keeps the mated width to about 0.7" overall.
