What This MTA-156 Plug Does in the Harness
The 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch matches the standard MTA-156 header footprint — a straight drop-in for that series. Free hanging (in-line) and right-angle mounting means the plug can mate straight onto a board header or sit at 90° where enclosure height is tight.
IDC Termination — No Crimp, Just Press
Cable termination is IDC (Insulation Displacement Connection). No crimp tool, no terminal inventory; the wire and plug are one operation. The MTA-156 series accepts discrete or ribbon cable, so this plug works for both point-to-point wiring and multi-conductor ribbon harnesses. Feed-through feature on the housing lets wires pass straight through the connector body, useful for daisy-chaining between boards.
Procurement & Lifecycle — Active, No Surprises
Lifecycle status is Active. ROHS3 Compliant.
Mating Half — Standard MTA-156 Header
Mates with any MTA-156 header of the same 0.156" pitch and position count. The male pins on this plug engage the female sockets in the header. No special keying or locking feature beyond the standard MTA-156 detent — the connection relies on the header's latch for retention. For a 3-position circuit, the mating header order code will share the 641524 base number with a different suffix.
