The TE Connectivity MTA-100 3-643498-3 is a 3-circuit, single-row IDC receptacle that terminates 22 AWG discrete or ribbon cable directly — no crimp tool, no loose terminals. The closed-end design blocks the back of the housing, so the IDC contacts bottom out at a consistent depth and the wire insertion stops at the right point every time.
Contact Plating and Termination — 80 µ" Tin on the IDC Joint
The thickness matters because an IDC termination relies on the contact beam slicing through the wire insulation and cold-flowing the tin into the conductor strands. A thin flash would not fill the interstices reliably; 80 µ" gives the gas-tight joint enough material to hold contact resistance stable through thermal cycling. The tin finish is the standard choice for the MTA-100 line — it matches the header pins for a tin-on-tin interface that works well in low-cycle, low-current signal and power applications inside a controlled environment.
