The closed end and polarizing key prevent mis-mating with the header, which matters when you're on the line and the harness only fits one way.
The 20 AWG wire gauge is fixed; the slot geometry won't accept a different size reliably. For ribbon cable the pitch matches the cable pitch, so you get simultaneous termination across all positions. The locking ramp holds the connector to the header under vibration — the ramp clicks into place and won't back out on a machine that shakes.
Contact Finish and Duty
The female sockets are tin-plated at 80.0 µ" (2.03 µm). The thickness at 80 µ" is on the higher end for tin, giving some margin against fretting corrosion in mildly humid cabinets.
Active lifecycle — no end-of-life notice on record. The yellow colour is a visual identifier on the reel or in the bin — not a functional spec, but it makes the part easy to spot in a drawer of black or natural housings.
