IDC Receptacle for 0.100" Ribbon — 3 Circuits, Locking Ramp
The 3-644312-3: The pitch has to match the ribbon — 0.100" is the standard spacing, so the IDC forks land dead-centre on each conductor every press. The housing is black with a closed end, and the locking ramp holds the mated pair in place without a secondary latch. Tin contacts with 80.0µin (2.03µm) thickness handle low-cycle, cost-sensitive harness work — think appliance wiring, control panels, or internal power jumpers where the connector mates once and stays.
Termination and Wire Prep
IDC termination means no stripping, no crimping — the connector presses onto the cable in one stroke. The 24 AWG wire gauge is the target; the forks pierce the insulation and grip the conductor. For ribbon cable, watch pin-one every press — the closed end and keying ramp orient the connector so the first position aligns with the ribbon's edge.
Mating and Compatibility
This receptacle mates with the standard MTA-100 header family — unshrouded or shrouded, straight or right-angle, through-hole or surface-mount. The locking ramp clicks into the header's matching detent. No special tooling beyond the IDC press fixture; the connector is keyed to prevent reverse insertion.
