Wire Gauge and Cable Type
The receptacle accepts 18 AWG wire, specified for both discrete and ribbon cable. The IDC slot geometry is sized for that gauge — using a thinner wire may not achieve the required insulation displacement force, while thicker wire risks damaging the contact beam.
