The TE 3-644563-2 is a 2-position IDC receptacle from the MTA-100 series, designed for mass-terminating 24 AWG discrete or ribbon cable without stripping or crimping.
No crimp tool needed, but a proper hand press or pneumatic applicator ensures the wire seats fully. The locking ramp snaps into the mating header's ramp cavity, giving positive retention against vibration without a secondary latch. The housing accepts the wire in a free-hanging or right-angle orientation, which helps route the cable tight to the board edge.
Contacts are tin-plated to 80.0 µ" (2.03 µm) — a thick, cost-effective finish for moderate mating cycles. For higher cycle life or sealed applications, the MTA-100 family also offers gold-plated variants, but this part is a solid fit for a one-time harness assembly.
