What it is and what it fits
The 34120: The non-insulated barrel uses a brazed seam and serrated inner surface — the serrations bite through oxide on the conductor strands during crimp, and the brazed seam keeps the barrel from splitting under pull-off load. Tin-plated copper contact material; the tin layer protects the copper from corrosion in dry indoor environments and accepts standard crimp tooling without special die coatings.
Crimp termination and field fit
Free-hanging (in-line) crimp termination — no soldering or heat shrink required on the joint. The 0.031" (0.79mm) barrel wall thickness provides enough material for the crimp die to form a gas-tight interface around the wire strands. The serrated termination inside the barrel grips the conductor strands and resists pull-out; the brazed seam eliminates the weak point where a butted seam would open under vibration.
Production status and sourcing
No direct pin-compatible alternative within the Solistrand series at the same stud size and wire range — the 34120 is the standard 14-16 AWG #6 ring in the line.
