What This Connector Does in the Harness
The TE Connectivity 4-640440-1 is an 11-position MTA-100 IDC receptacle — a one-piece wire-to-board connector that terminates discrete or ribbon cable without crimping. The 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch matches the standard MTA-100 header footprint, so it lands on the same board layout as every other member of this series. The closed-end design blocks wire entry from the back, which forces the cable to enter from one side only — useful when you're daisy-chaining several receptacles along a ribbon cable and need to control which end terminates.
Wiring It: IDC Termination and Wire Gauge
No stripping, no crimping: the wire is punched in, and the slot grips the conductor.
