IDC Receptacle for 24 AWG Harness Work
The TE Connectivity MTA-100 4-640441-5 is a 15-position single-row receptacle that terminates 24 AWG discrete or ribbon cable via IDC — no stripping, no crimping, just one press operation. The closed-end design blocks a mis-mated header from sliding past the last contact, which saves a debug cycle on the harness bench. Mounting is free-hanging (in-line) with a right-angle cable exit, which keeps the wire bundle parallel to the board edge — useful when routing into a tight enclosure corner. Accepts discrete wires or ribbon cable, so it's one part number for both harness styles.
Wiring and Termination Fit
Going thicker will split the housing; thinner won't get a gas-tight joint. For ribbon cable, the 0.100" pitch aligns with standard rainbow ribbon — just align the first conductor to the keyway. The closed-end feature means position 1 is a solid wall — no chance of a header pin punching through and shorting to the next assembly. On a 15-circuit run, that's a simple visual check: the header stops flush with the housing face.
