The TE Connectivity 4-640620-5 is a 15-position IDC receptacle from the MTA-100 series, designed for mass-terminating discrete or ribbon cable to a 0.100" (2.54mm) pitch header. It accepts 22 AWG wire and terminates via insulation displacement — no stripping, no crimping, just a one-step press. This is the female side of the MTA-100 wire-to-board system; it mates with the corresponding male header pins in the same pitch family.
Termination and Assembly
Termination is IDC — the wire is laid into the slot and pressed down so the contact tines pierce the insulation and bite into the conductor. No special tool is required beyond a standard IDC press or hand tool; the MTA-100 applicator tooling from TE handles the production run. The feed-through feature lets the wire pass straight through the housing, which is useful for daisy-chaining signals across multiple connectors on the same cable run.
