MTA-100 IDC Receptacle, 13 Circuits, 0.100" Pitch
The TE Connectivity 4-643814-3 is a 13-position MTA-100 receptacle, designed for mass-termination of discrete or ribbon cable using IDC contacts. The closed-end housing prevents wire insertion from the wrong side, which saves a rework step on the assembly line. The locking ramp holds the mated pair against vibration in a harness, typical for internal appliance wiring or control panel cable runs.
IDC Termination and Wire Gauge
This receptacle terminates 24 AWG wire via IDC — the insulation is displaced as the contact is pressed into the housing, so no stripping or crimping is needed. The tin contact finish at 80.0µin (2.03µm) is thick enough for moderate-cycle harness assembly; it will tolerate a few insertion/removal cycles without fretting, but the mating half should also be tin-plated to avoid galvanic mismatch.
Mating and Locking
Mates with the standard MTA-100 header (unshrouded, 0.100" pitch, same position count). The locking ramp on the receptacle engages the header latch for positive retention — the pair will not separate under cable tug or moderate vibration. No secondary lock or TPA is required; the ramp is the primary retention. For a right-angle cable exit, the receptacle can be mounted at the board edge with the header oriented to match.
