0.156" pitch IDC receptacle for 20 AWG harness assembly
The 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch is the standard spacing for this series — wide enough to keep the IDC slot geometry forgiving for field termination, tight enough to fit a 12-circuit harness in a compact footprint. The yellow housing includes a closed end and polarizing key, so the connector cannot be mated backwards or allow debris into the contact cavity.
IDC termination for 20 AWG only — no gauge swap
The IDC slot geometry is cut for 20 AWG wire only. The insulation displacement blades pierce the jacket and cold-flow around the conductor — a larger gauge jams the slot and risks incomplete displacement; a smaller gauge leaves the conductor loose in the slot, creating intermittent contact.
Locking ramp and thick tin for vibration-prone harness runs
That thickness matters because the IDC slot displaces the plating during termination; a thin flash would expose the base copper, risking corrosion over time in an unsealed environment. For a harness that sees occasional disconnect-reconnect cycles, the tin surface holds up well — just do not expect gold-grade cycle life beyond a few dozen mates.
