MTA-156 IDC Receptacle for 18 AWG Harness Builds
The TE Connectivity 4-644465-1 is an 11-position IDC receptacle from the MTA-156 series, designed for discrete or ribbon cable termination at 18 AWG. The orange housing provides quick visual identification on the line or in the panel.
Termination and Wiring Fit
The 18 AWG wire gauge is the specified size; the IDC slot is dimensioned for that strand count and insulation diameter. For 20 AWG the bite may not hold the same pull force, so stick with the listed gauge. The feed-through and polarizing key features prevent mis-mating and allow daisy-chaining through the housing if the harness design calls for pass-through connections.
This receptacle mates with the matching MTA-156 pin header (male, through-hole or vertical) at the same 0.156" (3.96mm) pitch. The free-hanging mount means no board footprint is needed; the connector sits in-line on the wire harness and mates to a header soldered to the PCB. The polarizing key ensures the orientation is correct before the contacts engage.
