Wiring It Right: Gauge and Termination
The 40990-1: Crimp termination with a weld tab output. The 16-20 AWG range covers common power and ground wires in automotive and industrial harnesses. Use the matching TE crimp tool (die set per the terminal's application specification) to get the correct crimp height and pull-off force. The weld tab end is uninsulated — plan for post-weld sleeving or conformal coating if the joint sits in a conductive environment.
